Pickleball for Beginners
The Basics

If you’re looking to start playing the fastest-growing sport in the world, beginners' classes are the best way to learn without the pressure of a competitive match. This is for the absolute novice who has never picked up a paddle. The goal is to get you comfortable on the court and understand the "anatomy" of the game.

Equipment Overview: Learning about paddles, balls, and court dimensions.
The "Non-Volley Zone": Understanding the "Kitchen" and why you can’t step in it to hit a volley.
The Grip & Ready Position: Learning the "Continental, Eastern” grips and how to stand so you aren't caught off guard.
Basic Strokes: Introduction to the serve, the return, and the "dink" (a soft shot).
Scoring & Rules: Learning how to keep track of the three-number score (e.g., 4-2-1).

Pickleball for Advanced Beginners
An Advanced Beginner class (often referred to as Level 2.0–2.5) is designed for players who have moved past the "What are the rules?" phase and are ready to stop just "hitting" the ball and start "playing" the game. At this level, the focus shifts from survival to intent and placement.

Course Objective: To transition players from "recreational hitters" to "strategic players" by improving stroke consistency, court positioning, and understanding the transition from the baseline to the net.
Key Skills Covered:

Mastering the Transition Zone - In beginner play, players often get stuck in "No Man's Land" (the middle of the court).
- The 3rd Shot Strategy: Moving beyond just hitting a hard 3rd shot; learning when to "Drive" (power) vs. "Drop" (touch).
- Forward Movement: Learning how to follow your return of serve to the kitchen line as a team.
Consistency in the "Soft Game" - Beginners often try to win points with power; Advanced Beginners win with patience.
- Dinking with Purpose: Learning to dink cross-court to create better angles and minimize errors.
- The "Reset": How to take a hard, fast ball from your opponent and "drop" it softly into the kitchen to slow the game down.
Directional Control & Depth
- Deep Serves & Returns: Training to keep your opponents pinned at their baseline, making their journey to the net much harder.
- Aiming for Feet: Learning to target the opponent's "toes" rather than their chest to force weak pop-ups.
Intermediate Tactics & Etiquette
- Stacking Basics: A brief intro to why partners might switch sides.
- Poaching & Communication: Learning to take the "middle" ball and communicating with your partner using "Yours!" or "Me!" calls.
- Intentional Scoring: Calling the score loudly and correctly to manage the pace of the game.
